Using Adobe Illustrator’s Pen tool, learn the basics of drawing with accuracy. You will build straight and curved routes as you gain confidence in this powerful tool.
Step 1:
To begin, choose the Pen tool from the Toolbar and set the stroke weight to 1 pt, the colour to black, and the fill to none in the Properties panel.
Step 2:
To make straight lines using the Pen tool, click and hold the mouse button to establish an anchor point. When you move the cursor, you will get a preview of the route you are making.
Step 3:
Click and hold to add another anchor point. Continue clicking and releasing in various places to add additional anchor points to the route.
Step 4:
To terminate a route, drag the cursor over the original anchor point and, when a circle appears next to the pointer, press Shift and click the end point.
Step 5:
Press the Escape key to end creating a route without closing it.
