How To Use Gradients In Adobe Illustrator

A gradient is a progressively blended combination of two or more colours or shades of the same colour. Gradients may be used to mix colours, give volume to vector shapes, and offer a light and shadow effect to your artwork. In Illustrator, you may use the Gradient panel, the Gradient tool, or the Control panel to create, apply, and edit gradients.

Step 1:

Click the Gradient drop-down in the Gradient panel after selecting the item on the canvas.

Step 2:

To use a preset gradient from the swatch library, follow these steps.

Step 3:

To access the Swatches panel, go to Window > Swatches.

Step 4:

Click the drop-down menu in the upper-right corner of the Swatches panel. Choose Open Swatch Library > Gradients from the list, and then choose the gradient you wish to use.

Step5:

To show just gradients in the Swatches panel, choose Show Gradient Swatches from the Show Swatch Kinds drop-down list.

You can use linear, global and other kinds of gradients as per your choice. Check out more of our tutorials to learn more.
