In this Text Effects lesson, we will learn how to use Photoshop brushes to apply stroke borders around the letters to make fascinating patterns out of text! We will start by creating a path from the text, and then we will see how Photoshop can add a stroke to the route with whatever brush we choose! Let’s begin!
Step 1:
Make a Path Out of Your Text
Step 2:
At the bottom of the Layers window, click the New Layer button to create a new layer. In Photoshop, click the New Layer button in the Layers window.
Step 3:
Turn off the Text Layer. To conceal the text, in the Layers panel, click on its layer visibility indicator (the eyeball) on the left side of the layer:
Step 4:
Choose a Brush
The next step is to choose a brush. From the Tools panel, choose the Brush Tool.
Step 5:
To apply the brush to the path, go to the Paths panel, which is part of the same panel group as the Layers (and Channels) panel.
Step 6:
At the bottom of the Paths panel, click the Stroke Route With Brush button to create a brush stroke around the path.
And that’s how it’s done! Make sure to check out more of our tutorials to learn more.
