How To Do Low Poly Background  In Adobe Illustrator?

Today I will teach you how to create a stunning low poly background in Illustrator precisely the way you want it — moreover, you will be able to quickly alter the colours without having to recreate all of the polygons.

Step 1

Open Illustrator and create a new document with the backdrop proportions you desire.

Step 2

Select the Pen Tool (P) and make sure the Fill and Stroke are both set to White and Black.

Step 3

Draw a triangle as shown, starting from the top left corner of the canvas and clicking just once for each of the triangle points. Close the form after snapping the initial anchor point to the top left corner of the canvas.

Step 4

Draw another triangle using the Pen Tool (P), as illustrated. Start from the top right corner this time, making sure to snap the top left anchor point to the top right anchor point of the previously created triangle.

Step 5

Draw another triangle between the two we have just created, and this time be sure to snap the three anchor points to the anchor points of the other triangle.

Step 6

Rep this procedure until you have covered the whole canvas with triangles.

Step 7

Choose the Selection Tool (V).

Step 8

Click on several triangles while holding down the Shift key on your keyboard to select them.

Step 9

Set the Fill colour of the chosen triangles to #d3d5d8 by going to Window > Colour.
