What if you wish to erase using the same brush you used to paint? It is really quite simple, and I will teach you how in this short lesson! Rather of utilizing Photoshop’s Eraser Tool to erase a brush stroke, we can convert the Brush Tool into an eraser, which means we will be erasing using the same brush and settings we used to paint!
Step 1:
Change the brush blend mode from Normal to Clear while your Brush Tool is still active.
Step 2:
In Photoshop’s Options Bar, choose the Undo Eraser function.
Step 3:
Changing the blend mode of the brush to “Clear.”
Step 4:
Then just paint over the stroke, and whatever area you paint over will be erased:
Step 5:
After you have removed the area, return to resume painting by changing the blend mode back to Normal
Step 6:
In Photoshop’s Options Bar, change the brush blend mode back to Normal.
Step 7:
Here’s a shortcut for switching between the two brush blend modes. With the Brush Tool selected, press Shift+Alt+R (Windows) / Shift+Option+R (Mac) to switch to the Clear brush blend mode. When you are finished erasing, press Shift+Alt+N (Windows) / Shift+Option+N (Mac) to return the blend mode to Normal.
