Photoshop has the ability to quickly create and modify vector shapes. Your vector shape may also be converted to a raster or pixel-based form. In this tutorial I will teach you how to create the best post for Instagram using only shapes in Adobe Photoshop.
Step 1:
Click and hold the Shape tool group icon in the toolbar to bring up the different shape tool options: Rectangle, Ellipse, Triangle, Polygon, Line, and Custom Shape. Choose a tool to draw the shape you desire.
Step 2:
To design a shape, click and drag on the canvas using your chosen shape tool. In the Layers panel, this immediately generates a new form layer.
Step 3:
While sketching, hold down the Shift key to make your shapes proportionate.
Step 4:
With your form layer selected, use the Move tool to move and reposition your shape on the canvas.
Step 5:
Choose Edit > Free Transform or press Control+T (Windows) / Command+T (Mac) to quickly scale, transform, or rotate your shape (Mac).
Step 6:
Draw a shape and modify its attributes using the on-canvas controls.
Step 7:
After you have created a shape, you may click anywhere on the canvas to bring up a Create Form pop-up window and change the parameters of your shape.
