How to Create Background Patterns in Adobe Photoshop?

When you apply a pattern to fill a layer or selection, it is an image that is repeated, or tiled. Photoshop has several pattern presets.

You may create new patterns and store them in libraries to use with various tools and commands. Preset patterns are shown in popup panels in the Paint Bucket, Pattern Stamp, Healing Brush, and Patch tools’ options bars, as well as in the Layer Style dialogue box.

By selecting a display option from the pop-up panel menu, you may alter how patterns are shown in the pop-up panels. The preset manager may also be used to manage pattern presets.

Step 1:

On any open picture, use the Rectangle Marquee tool to pick an area to use as a pattern. Feather must be set to a value of 0 pixels. It should be noted that big pictures may become cumbersome.

Step 2:

Select Edit > Define Pattern.

Step 3:

In the Pattern Name dialogue box, give the pattern a name.
