How To Use Image Mask With Pattern Outline In Adobe Illustrator?

Creating a clipping mask in Adobe Illustrator may seem difficult, but it is really simple. A clipping mask, like looking through a hole in a sheet of paper to the objects underneath it, enables a topmost item to define the chosen forms beneath it; however, with a clipping mask, the region surrounding the defining shape is translucent.

Step 1:

To insert a picture, choose File> Place.

Step 2:

Masks work with both items produced in Illustrator and objects put there (scanned or otherwise imported).

Step 3:

Make the object you wish to use as a mask by drawing a shape or a closed path using the Pen tool.

Step 4:

When constructing a clipping mask, ensure that the object to be used as a mask is a closed form at the top of the stacking order.

Step 5:

To choose the picture and form, use the Selection tool.

Step 6:

To add an item to the selection, hold down the Shift key while clicking.

Ta-da! The clipping mask was generated by you. Masked objects are clustered, but you may move the picture or mask separately by using the Direct Selection tool. Check out more videos to learn more.
