Image Trace converts raster pictures (JPEG, PNG, PSD, and so on) to vector artwork. You may simply base a new drawing on an existing piece of artwork by tracing it using this function. Image Trace, for example, may transform an image of a horse you have made on paper into vector artwork. To rapidly get the required effect, you may choose from a selection of tracing presets.
Step 1:
Make a trace of a picture
Step 2:
In your Illustrator document, open or insert a raster image.
Step 3:
Select Object > Image Trace > Trace with Default Parameters. By default, Illustrator transforms the picture to a black and white tracing output.
Step 4:
In the Control or Properties panels, click the Image Trace button, or choose a preset from the Tracing Presets button.
Step 5:
To access the Image Trace panel, go to Window > Image Trace or switch to the Tracing workspace.
Step 6:
From the Preset drop-down menu, choose a preset.
Step 7:
Configure the tracing settings.
