In Adobe Illustrator, you can add depth to any flat object by selecting one of two 3-D choices. To give depth to most shapes, use the Extrude and Bevel option, such as converting a square into a cube or a circle into a cylinder. Use the Revolve option to rotate the item in a circle around itself.
Step 1:
Open a new document in Illustrator. Using the Rectangle or Ellipse tools, draw any two-dimensional object, such as a rectangle or circle. With the Selection Tool, choose the object.
Step 2:
To alter the colour of the object, go to the Toolbox and choose the “Fill Colour” icon. To set the colour for the sides of the object when depth is applied, click the “Stroke Colour” button.
Step 3:
Select “3D” from the “Effect” option. To create depth behind an item, such as converting a square to a cube, choose “Extrude & Bevel.” Click “Revolve” to give depth to an item by extending it into a circular shape, for as transforming a square into a disc or wedge.
Step 4:
Select the “Preview” checkbox. To choose the angle of depth, rotate the thumbnail form while viewing the item in the main window. Alternatively, enter numbers into the three text boxes next to the cube. The object is rotated along the x-axis by the first field, the y-axis by the second, and the z-axis by the third.
Step 5:
To alter the perspective lines on the depth of the object, go to the “Perspective” option. This makes the item seem closer or further away.
Step 6:
Click the first “Cap” icon to create a solid object or the second icon to make the object hollow.
