How To Use The Direct Selection Tool In Adobe Illustrator?

The direct Selection tool enables the user to pick out specific spots on an item. Additionally, we may pick parts of any item and drag them to the desired location. You may use the Direct Selection tool to pick specific route points and segments, as well as to add and remove objects from the selection. Additionally, you may use the Direct Selection technique in conjunction with a marquee to choose parts of the route and drag a portion of it to form a selection rectangle.

Step 1:

To use this tool; first, we need to create a shape.

Step 2:

We will build a rectangle shape using the characteristics of a rectangle shape that correspond to our needs.

Step 3:

Using the Selection tool in addition to direct selection, we can view the 9 points, which are 4 points on the line’s centre, 4 points on the rectangle’s edges, and 1 point in the rectangle’s centre, as shown below.

Step 4:

If we choose the Direct Selection Tool, we will see just five points, four at the corners of a rectangle and one in the middle, as seen below.

Step 5:

While using the Direct Selection Tool, we may push and drag the right pointer of the mouse to reposition the rectangle.

Step 6:

Now, we can press any corner of the rectangle and drag it with the right pointer of the mouse to reposition the corners relative to the rectangle’s centre.

Step 7:

Now, we will use the rectangle command to create another rectangle.

Step 8:

Once again, we will utilise the Direct Selection tool to reposition the four corners of the initial rectangle in order to create a geometric shape according to the user’s wishes.

It has been shown above how we utilise the direct selection tool to get the desired form. Check out more our videos to learn more.
